Just wrapped up the biggest DIY job I’ve taken on with my Infiniti.

312,000 miles on the clock.

Knocked out:
  • Valve cover gaskets
  • Intake manifold gaskets
  • Throttle body spacer gaskets
  • Spark plugs

The valve covers were leaking badly and needed attention. That pushed me to finally dive in. Overall, the job was straightforward. Took some time, but nothing too complicated if you stay organized and patient.

I cleaned things up while I was in there and snapped a few pics. For 300k plus miles, I think the engine looks pretty solid.

Curious what you guys think. How does this look for the mileage?

Nice, very clean I should probably do that myself soon here I'm coming up on my spark plug change again at almost 200K and one of the plugs had a bit more oil than I'd like to see.

Its a VQ37 so long as the valvebody doesn't give you grief it really is just basic fluids and maintenance for those motors. The hindsight of 20 years+ of VQ development goes a long way!
Although at 300K he probably needs to service his water pumps, chains and guides soon which is a huge PITA. lol

Super clean! What oil did you use during the 300K?
