New CV Axles?

So, I recently posted about having trouble with my diff removal. I didn’t have the top stud all the way out, and so I was confused as to why my axles weren’t loose. In an attempt to get them out, I pried quite a bit on a certain scection of the axles, bending it. It doesn’t look critical, but I figured I’d see what you guys said. New axles needed? I’m thinking no, these seem like dust shields for the rubber seals, and don’t seem to carry any rotational weight, so they likely won’t result in any driveline vibration. I could be wrong.

Absolutely, pretend you never noticed and put them back in. Yes a little theoretical dust will get by in that 1% but they are sheilds not seals so they never kept all dust and crap out anyway

Sadly, the ABS ring is the only real place to pry. The dust sheild is too weak (as you saw) and the is no other point to apply force to pop the circlips at the end of the driveshaft.

BTW you will also need to pry to put them back in, in that case you can put your prybar on the lip of the CV itself and hammer it in (from mulitiple points around the CV)

Got you, figured that was the case. I had a sh*tty prybar (to the point I had to borrow a flooring tool from my contractor, needed a wider bar) so the edges of the abs rings have some chips, as you can probably see. Glad to know I’m alright. Although at this point an axle replacement would be pretty damn easy.

Yeah that’s just a dust shield and you can bend back in place. Also since you the diff out, might as well upgrade to the R200 while your at it.

As if I had that kinda money 😭 traction concepts kit my man. Don’t you also need new axles for the R200?
